Danish Technological Institute has assisted the EU Commission, DG Education and Culture, in peer learning activities in e-learning. The work was conducted within a framework contract with DG Education and Culture. The context of the contract is the Education and Training 2010 Work Programme ‘Cluster on ICT Information and Communications Technology’. The new stage of the European Educationd and Training Programme2010 also includes a revision of the Open Method of Coordination (OMC) with emphasis on peer learning, clusters, focus groups and study visits. The 2007 project facilitated peer learning activities between members of the cluster, i.e., representatives from European Ministries of Education and other stakeholders. The rationale of peer learning activities is to stimulate policy cooperation in the Education and Training 2010 through exchange of experience and promising practices. The good practise cases show how teacher training is vital for successful use of e-learning. Teachers are more prone to be engaged in the use of ICT in teaching activities,if there are flexible and adaptable methods for doing so. Amendable Learning Management Systems have also proven valuable and several countries work with new Learning Management Systems from ePortfolios to Open Source tools. The cases also show that the ICT infrastructure still needs to be developed in many countries. Other countries have launched national reform strategies. More information
