Egyptian Food Technology Centre, Danida (B2B - Programme)
A Business to Business project to support the Egyptian Food Technology Centre (FTC) in their endeavour to become a sustainable national centre of excellence. At the outset of the project, FTC is a part of the Ministry of Industry and Foreign Trade. During the project period FTC will be developed into an economical sound organization, and be ready for a privatization process. This will require management training covering legal, financial, organization aspects, as well as various technical aspects.

Achieving Cost Effective Compliance in Industry with Environmental Regulations (Phase 1&2) Danida
The objective of the project is to develop the necessary capacity at the Federation of Egyptian Industries/Environmental Compliance Office (FEI/ECO) (under the Ministry of Industry) office to develop into a competent professional office, which can support Egyptian Industry – with a focus on SMEs - to meet the required compliance with existing and future environmental laws and legislation, and thereby ultimately improve their competitiveness as a result of improved product quality, better energy efficiency and general resource utilisation, improved and updated production processes and so forth.

Improved Access to Markets; Component Two of Danida Business Sector Programme Support II
The BSPS Component 2 comprises three sub-components: (1) support to international trade negotiations, (2) support to product quality improvement, and (3) support to SME competitiveness. DTI is responsible for the implementation of sub-component 2 and is involved in sub-project 3 also. The focus in sub-component 2 is on enhancing Tanzania’s Quality Infrastructure. It aims at improving the quality, as well as the reputation, of Tanzanian produce. It combines accreditation of laboratories with support to Tanzania Bureau of Standard (TBS) to participate in international standard setting meetings, and actions towards complying with future international food quality standards. The focus is on quality of food products, where Tanzanian exports are facing a range of requirements and obstacles.

Support to Legal Metrology, Turkey - EuropeAid/122782/D/SER/TR
The project aimed at facilitating the process of technical harmonisation in Turkey with the acquis communautaire covering the free movement of industrial goods. Activities include provision of consultancy and training to all parties interested in legal metrology. The project will assist in the process to ensure that the legislation on acquis communitaire – legal metrology fully meets the requirements of the New Approach and the Global Approach.

Increasing Innovativeness of SME sector, Poland

The project was addressed to the micro-, small and medium industrial enterprises (MSMEs) operating all over the Poland in particular in the following sectors: electro-machinery, production of medical, precise and optical instruments, waste utilization and food production. Project target groups and final beneficiaries: management staff of MSMEs (owners, board members, directors and managers), other staff responsible for production, R&D and technology in MSMEs (depending of the company structure they may be employees of R&D departments, main technologists, specialists of production departments, etc.) and specialists in protection of intellectual property. The Contractor was responsible for provision of training services to target groups.

Promotion of employment and HRD, Mazowsze Region, Poland
The Mazowsze Region had more than 370,000 registered unemployed persons. Especially the southern part of the Voivodship is heavily affected with unemployment rates of more than 25% and large-scale hidden unemployment in the agricultural sector. The project was to address this high un-employment rate through assistance targeting significant problems on the Polish labour market (unemployment, sector restructuring, skill gaps and quality of HR) assisting the accession process in the fields of employment policy. The project also strengthened the administrative capacities of central and regional authorities and local service providers to implement ESF programmes after the accession.
Trade and Investment Development Programme, India, Lot 1 – SPS/TBT Related Issues

The overall objective of the project was to improve the capacity of the Indian infrastructure for quality control, standards compliance and testing of internationally traded goods, with particular emphasis on the agricultural sector and Food. The main beneficiary was the Export Inspection Council, Bureau of India Standards and APEDA.

Consultancy Services for SME Development in Pskov and Kaliningrad Regions

The immediate objective is that SMEs in Kaliningrad and Pskov regions will increase their competitiveness and access to local, Russian and export markets. The project encompasses two sub-components: Subcomponent 1.1 deals with the development of SME policy dialogue and advocacy capacity of business associations with the aim of developing effective and consistent policies, strategies and programmes to support SME development as well as improving the enabling environment for business development at municipal level. A large part of the consultancy assignment involves the delivery of capacity building for public authorities (regional and municipal/local) as well as for business associations.

Strengthening Quality Management, Capabilities, and Infrastructures in SCG, Serbia
The project highlighted five related objective: Over all Policy; assistance to the Government in adopting a general frame work policy for the integration of the acquis in the field of standards and technical regulations and in developing an updated national quality plan for the industry. Standardisation; Strengthening the Federal Office for Standardisation (SZS), in order to support the integration of European and international standards into national standards and to increase their diffusion towards the industry. Accreditation; establish the conditions for future international recognition of tests and calibration results, as well as certificates by restructuring the National Accreditation Body (JUAT). Metrology; Implementation of a recognised national metrology institute and to establish the conditions for international recognition of the calibration and measurement certificates. Conformity Assessment; Development of selected certification bodies with the capacity of establishing the Notified Bodies necessary for the implementation of New Approach Directives.
