Biofuels are annual or perennial crops from the forest and agriculture, industry or biowaste products as well as marin biomass. These biofuels must be characterised in order for them to be utilised as energy. Energy conversion may take place by means of combustion, thermal gasification or decomposition into liquid fuels.
