SPHEERE
SPHEERE (Sustainable Package for High Energy Efficient REtrofit) aims to revolutionize deep renovation in European buildings through a highly integrated, innovative process.
The project develops a multi-functional prefabricated package, adaptable to diverse building types, uses, and climate zones. Its primary target is masonry-concrete multi-storey residential, public, and commercial buildings built in the latter half of the 20th century, representing 18% of Europe’s building stock.
Rather than focusing solely on technological upgrades, SPHEERE extends innovation to organizational and methodological aspects, optimizing the entire renovation workflow—from surveying and design to manufacturing, installation, and end-of-life management. This holistic approach is centered on synergy and efficient integration of all phases.
Key features include:
Prefabricated Subsystems: Advanced envelope and high-performance plant components, manufactured for rapid on-site assembly and minimized disruption.
Circularity and Sustainability: High content of recycled materials, use of durable and repairable elements, and fully reversible, disassemblable, and recyclable components.
Smart, Digital Infrastructure: Enabling superior smart readiness (7th class) and improving monitoring and control.
SPHEERE’s holistic and adaptable solution is set to accelerate the deep renovation market, delivering high-performance, sustainable, and affordable building upgrades at scale.
