Concrete for infrastructure projects - Tendering phase

Review of the concrete specifications (tendering phase)

DTI will scrutinise the specifications to obtain a clearer picture of the pitfalls that may emerge and thus provide opportunity to take this into consideration in the technical and financial tenders. Most specifications contain requirements that upon closer examination proves to be either time consuming and/or costly to fulfil. Examples being temperature and stress simulations, extent of full scale trial testing, testing of constituents etc.

Use of experts’ curriculum vitae in the tender (tendering phase)

CVs of DTI experts can be used to document that the consortium possess the required competences to provide the Owner a technically sound project.

Authoring parts of technical tender document (tendering phase)

DTI will address specific issues concerning concrete technology, e.g. durability and service life, early-age properties and related curing technology, use of “special concrete” e.g. self-compacting concrete and fiber reinforced concrete.

Choice of materials and development of mix design (tendering and/or pre-construction phases)

DTI will assist with choice of the right materials and will develop and document mix design(s) that represent the optimum in terms of fulfilling requirements to execution and durability by making use of our concrete mixing station. The choice of constituents to be used in the concrete mix has impact not only on the cost of the concrete, but also on aspects of the execution. Different cement types (binder compositions) have different development heat and mechanical properties, which may have impact on e.g. the casting sequence and need for cooling pipes or insulation. Also, their durability performance are quite different.

Quality Assurance (tendering, pre-construction and construction phases)

DTI will provide all levels of assistance from constructing the complete QA system including procedures, work instructions, forms etc. to evaluation of your QA system (e.g. inspection and test plan) according to the requirements in the specifications. We have also experience in performing internal audits as well as audits of the suppliers. DTI will assume responsibility for non-conformance reporting (NCR) and associated communication with the Client.

Temperature and stress calculations (tendering, pre-construction and construction phases)

DTI will provided the required documentation related to early-age crack control from temperature and stress calculation. DTI will determine the necessary input parameters for the calculations and perform the calculation required to find the optimum execution procedure while ensuring fulfilment of requirements. In connection with full scale trial casting we will plan, execute, online monitor and document the control of temperature. DTI will provided the required documentation that the individual castings of permanent structures fulfil the requirements established during full scale trial casting. DTI will plan, execute, monitor in real time online and document the control of temperature using real time online technology.
