New cobot lab opened at DTI

The Danish Technological Institute (DTI) opened their new laboratory for collaborative robots at The Danish Robot and Automation Expo 2019 (ROBOTBRAG 2019). This Cobot Lab aims to help Danish companies successfully and safely implement robots that work closely with humans.

On November 14th 2019 DTI's new Cobot Lab was inaugurated during the ROBOTBRAG event by Flemming Møller, Head of Global Manufacturing Concepts at Kamstrup.

- An initiative like Cobot Lab, where you can get impartial advice and discuss how cobots can be exploited, is incredibly relevant. Because the introduction of cobots is much more than technology --it affects one's organization and not least requires new skills, Flemming Møller said in his inaugural speech.

- It is therefore gratifying to be able to open the Cobot Lab, where knowledge about how to exploit the full potential of the collaborative robots is all gathered in one place, he concluded.

-

Tailor-made, impartial advice

The purpose of the Cobot Lab is to help companies exploit the full potential of collaborative robots, and ensure that new technology is implemented in industry where it makes sense.

Mads Mathiesen, Business Manager at DTI says that as a company you can get a tailor-made consultancy course in Cobot Lab.

- We offer a company-specific technology development course, which typically starts with the identification of the potential of automating using cobots. We identify the company's most suitable cases and work closely with them to develop concepts selected on the basis of an independent technology screening, says Mads Mathiesen.

ROBOTBRAG set the framework for the inauguration

The Cobot Lab was inaugurated during the annual Danish Robot and Automation Expo (ROBOTBRAG), which this year attracted over 1,500 participants, breaking last year's attendance record of over 800 participants.

The many curious robot enthusiasts came to experience some of the innovative technologies that are waiting around the corner in the form of artificial intelligence, virtual reality, drones and not least the collaborative robots.

Every corner of DTI's living laboratory was in use, and this year there was even more room for futuristic robot technology with the DTI's third 800 m2 robot innovation hall.
