This on-demand online course equips you to manage digital services and products using the latest ITIL framework (Version 5). You will learn how modern service management supports the user experience, continual improvement and strategic value delivery across digital environments.

Throughout the course, you will delve into the ITIL Service Value System (SVS), which brings together guiding principles, governance, service value chain activities and management practices. You will learn to apply the seven guiding principles actively in your daily work, ensuring you always focus on value and progress iteratively with feedback.
 
In addition, you will gain an in-depth understanding of the circular ITIL product and service lifecycle, from initial discovery to ongoing support. The course prepares you for the future by teaching you how ITIL (Version 5) supports emerging technologies like AI and automation, and how to integrate the framework with Agile, DevOps and PRINCE2.

Digital Product and Service Management
Introduction to the key concepts and definitions used in ITIL (Version 5), reviewing what digital products and services are, and how they differ from traditional deliverables. You will learn how modern service management supports the user experience, continual improvement and strategic value delivery across digital environments.

The ITIL Value System
The ITIL Value System brings together essential components such as guiding principles, governance, value chain activities and management practices. The course reviews how these elements interact to help organisations create, deliver and improve services. The system supports flexible application and ensures all activities align with business goals.

ITIL Guiding Principles
A review of the seven guiding principles that form the basis of all decisions and behaviour in ITIL. These include "focus on value", "start where you are" and "progress iteratively with feedback". Each principle helps teams adapt service management to their unique context, driving continual improvement and practical application.

Value Chain and Lifecycle Activities
This part of the course covers the ITIL product and service lifecycle – a non-linear model for managing services from initial discovery to ongoing support. You will gain an understanding of how lifecycle activities support the value chain and how organisations use this structure to deliver consistent, high-quality digital services.

ITIL, AI, Automation and Other Frameworks
How ITIL (Version 5) supports emerging technologies like AI and automation, and how it integrates with other frameworks such as Agile, DevOps and PRINCE2. This section highlights ITIL’s relevance in fast-changing environments and its ability to help teams implement technologies in a responsible and strategic manner.

This course package takes approximately 10–12 hours to complete.

Certification

You will receive an exam voucher, which you can use to take your certification online. You can book the exam the very next day, or whenever you feel ready. The voucher is valid for 12 months.
 
The exam is conducted via PeopleCert Online Proctoring, which means it can be taken whenever and wherever it suits you from your own PC.

Exam Format

  • Number of questions: 40
  • Duration: 60 minutes (75 minutes if English is not you native language)
  • Format: Multiple-choice, Closed book
  • You must answer at least 26 questions correctly (65%) to pass the certification.
  • Upon passing, you will receive the ITIL Foundation Certificate in IT Service Management.
