Extrusion of compound feeds

At Danish Technological Institute, we have a pilot facility that includes various extrusion systems. Here, it is simple and straightforward to get started with the development or production of new products or niche products that do not have sufficient volume for larger industrial plants.

We provide advice at all stages of extrusion and make facilities, equipment, and expertise available, giving your company access to qualified process and product development that can quickly and flexibly help develop, optimize, and test new ingredients and fish feed.

Based on your needs, we advise on formulations for extruded products with a focus on shaping, bulk density, texture, and porosity.

The pilot facility offers the following extrusion equipment:

  • W&P Continua, 38 mm twin-screw, 10–40 kg/hour. Highly suitable for product and process development as well as small-scale production of fish feed.

What tasks can we solve on the extrusion lines:

  • Process and product development of extruded products
  • Documentation and testing of raw materials’ extrusion properties
  • Relevant pre- and post-processing such as milling, mixing, coating
  • Testing the stability of ingredients in the extrusion and drying process
  • Contract manufacturing of feed mixtures

In addition, we offer workshops on extrusion in practice and partnerships in R&D projects.
