3D concrete printing is a new technology in the construction industry which has still to be moved from being simply experimental to a real and reliable construction method like other construction technologies. Supported by Innovation Fund Denmark, N3XTCON is a project, where experts and the construction industry work together. Amongst other things, the plan is to develop an AI-model and new concrete printers together with a control system, that enables 3D concrete printing to be conceived as a reliable and resource efficient construction method and hereby create completely new opportunities for future constructions.
There is great potential in automating the production of concrete structures using concrete printers. First, there are some interesting improvements of the productivity. When the technology is developed and matured, customized concrete structures can be printed at a significantly lower price than today. It is important to note that these customized structures are concrete structures that potentially can do and be more than the typical concrete structures of today.
The objective of N3XTCON is to develop the future technology of 3D concrete printing, so that 3D concrete printing can make its way onto construction sites as a reliable and productivity increasing technology compared to the technologies of today. This will allow the production of future concrete structures to be both free formed and resource efficient.
