Advanced Energy Storage Theme day 2: Battery systems – Opportunities and system resilience
When is a battery energy storage system the right solution for emergency power supply? How do you build a sound business case? And how do you navigate an electrical grid where grid capacity in Denmark has become a decisive factor that cannot be overlooked?
On 7 October, we invite stakeholders from across the value chain to an afternoon that moves beyond theoretical potential and looks at what it truly takes to bring a battery project from plan to operation – with a focus on backup supply, flexibility, and enhanced system resilience.
You will hear from Energinet on the latest developments in grid capacity and "grid friendliness" (netvenlighed), and from BattMan Energy about practical experiences from a 20 MW / 45 MWh battery facility in Southern Jutland. The program also features presentations from Ea Energy Analyses and Verdo. Read more about all the presentations below.

About the Presentations
- ”Grid Friendliness – and the Route to Grid Capacity”
by Thomas Dalgas Fechtenburg, Senior Manager, Energinet
Against the backdrop of the current situation surrounding grid capacity and allocation priorities, Thomas unpacks the concept of "grid friendliness." He provides a sought-after perspective on what this means for battery systems in practice, and how it is integrated into Energinet's prioritization model for grid connection. - ”20 MW in a Constrained Grid: How We Succeeded”
by Andreas Svendstrup-Bjerre, Director of Business Development & Regulatory Affairs, BattMan Energy
Andreas offers a practical, real-world look at how close collaboration with the local distribution system operator (DSO) enabled BattMan Energy to establish a 20 MW / 45 MWh battery energy storage system, participate in ancillary services markets, and support local grid stability. - ”Battery Storage and the Power System: The Mutual Interplay”
by Anant Atul Visaria, Senior Consultant, Ea Energy Analyses
Drawing on in-depth analyses of the Danish and European electricity markets, Anant zooms in on the interplay between battery storage and the power grid. He delivers concrete insights into how expanding battery capacity impacts power prices and flexibility – and what this means for the commercial business case in practice. - ”From Concept to Breaking Ground – Verdo’s Path to Emergency Power”
by Jacob Rasmussen, Technical Project Manager, Verdo
Based on Verdo's upcoming battery project, Jacob shares hands-on experiences from the planning phase leading up to breaking ground. He provides an open look into the considerations behind Verdo’s specific solution, where the facility primarily serves as emergency backup power while still delivering commercial and financial viability.
