Metal 3D printing of universal grippers for Scape Technologies
The Odense-based SME, Scape Technology, specializes in "bin-picking", which is automatic picking of items from disordered containers. For this bin-picking, they wanted to make the robot grippers more universal, and therefore they applied for a MADE Demonstration project.
In the MADE demonstration project, Scape Technologies received help from the Danish Technological Institute to develop a modular version of the gripper, where individual parts of it can be replaced. By continuously 3D printing metal parts for the gripper, it can be adapted to a large number of new objects.
Below, you can watch a video about the project.
