Final Animal Welfare - Animal handling training

Correct handling of live animals before and during the stunning/sticking process is of major importance to obtain high animal welfare, a smooth process flow, and to avoid meat quality defects.. Some of the typical problems that indicate the need to implement training in animal handling is a slow production flow, animals not wanting to move forward during driving and increased need for trimming.

Seminars to the meat industry
During the last two decades, DMRI has offered seminars to the meat industry in correct handling of pigs, poultry, cattle, and sheep. DMRI offers a training seminar to all operators and managers working at the slaughterhouse. The seminar describes best practice for handling livestock from arrival to killing, requirements for layout, self-audit as well as procedures for sick and injured animals. The seminar material will be prepared according to the specific needs for your factory and can be translated to the local language.

The seminar can be conducted digitally either online during a live session or distributed to you as a pre-recorded material – with several videos and pictures for optimal learning.

Animal welfare training diploma
The slaughterhouse will receive a diploma stating that all relevant employees have undergone training in animal handling and procedures related to animal welfare. In addition, operators that have attended the seminar will receive a diploma stating that they have completed the DMRI animal welfare training program including training in animal handling and procedures related to animal welfare from unloading to sticking.
