Nanocatalysts and functional nanomaterials

We help you from catalyst development to pilot production of catalysts for use in eg. catalytic converters and fuel cells.

Catalysts are a group of materials that get a chemical reaction to progress faster. Catalysts are involved in 90% of all commercially produced chemical products at one stage or another in the manufacturing process. From fertilizers to fuels, as well as consumer products such as furniture and food. Catalysts enable the conversion of many resources into products with a minimum of energy consumption and waste. With catalysts you can make expensive processes cheaper without being consumed in the reaction. Therefore the importance of catalysis in industry and the environment is incredibly high.

Controlled particle size is important
The size of the catalysts has an enormous impact on the catalytic properties as the catalytic reactions typically occur on the surface of the catalysts. Nanomaterials are characterized as having structural components with at least one dimension less than 100 nm. The smaller the particle, the greater the proportion of atoms on the surface. For example, a nanoparticle with a diameter of 30 nm, has approximately 5% of its atoms on the surface while a particle of 3 nm has about 50% of its atoms on the surface. This means that nanoparticles have a much larger surface area per. mass compared to larger particles. For that reason industrial catalysts are most often produced as nanomaterials.

Unique flow production method
Our skills within the production of nanocatalysts and materials are based on our patented flow production method of suspended nanoparticles. With this production method, we have achieved outstanding material properties, such as nanoparticles with small size distribution, high crystallinity and complex structures, including core-shell materials as well as unique catalytic properties. Moreover, the method is compatible with a large amount of metal precursors and enables the production of both oxides, metal particles and combinations. We work with:

What can we do for you?

  • Bring you from idea to prototype and pilot production
  • Identify the optimal catalytic solution for your problem or product
  • Develop and optimize specific catalytic materials
  • Develop and validate new catalysts for catalytic converters
  • Develop and validate new catalysts for fuel cells
  • Compile total solutions where catalysis is included in the final product
  • Characterize and validate new nanocatalysts

Experts in the production of catalysts and nanomaterials
Our expertise in the development and manufacture of nanoparticles is built through many years of work and development of our patented production method. The method is compatible with a large amount of metal precursors as well as solvents, surfactants, reductants and oxidants. Ouw way of producíng has proved itself extremely versatile, with the possibility of manufacturing nanomaterials for use in eg. fuel cells, catalytic converters and batteries. The manufactured nanomaterials cover metal oxides, including washcoats, oxygen storage materials, perovskites and zeolites, but also pure metal nanoparticles, such as platinum, palladium, gold, silver, nickel and copper, and combinations thereof.

We ensure that you choose the right catalyst solution with efficient use of resources and that you will have your desired nanocatalysts developed for your products.
