What is accredited heat pump testing?

Accredited heat pump testing is testing carried out in a laboratory accredited in accordance with EN/ISO 17025:2017. This ensures that test procedures follow international standards and that results are recognised by certification bodies and authorities across Europe. Danish Technological Institute's Heat Pump Test Laboratory holds this accreditation and is approved by several European certification schemes.


What parameters are measured during a heat pump test?

A heat pump test typically measures energy efficiency (COP, SCOP, SEER, EER), sound power level and domestic hot water (DHW) production. Compliance with requirements such as the Ecodesign Directive, the EU energy label and the Energy Efficiency Index (EEI) is also assessed.


Which certification schemes can the test results be used for?

Danish Technological Institute's Heat Pump Test Laboratory is approved to carry out testing for CEN Heat Pump KEYMARK, EHPA Quality Label, NTA 8800 and MCS (Microgeneration Certification Scheme). Test results can be used directly for certification and market access in multiple European countries.


How long does a heat pump test take?

Can test data be accessed in real time?

Yes. Danish Technological Institute provides real-time access to test data, allowing you to follow your heat pump's test progress - including outside normal working hours.


What happens if issues arise during testing?

If unforeseen problems occur during start-up, or if changes to the test setup or parameters are needed, the testing team adapts the process in dialogue with you. The laboratory can wait for spare parts, software updates or other adjustments to ensure that the test is completed as planned.
