Project - Demonstration project about the application of heat pumps or other VE-based forms of heating
Project start: 2013. Ended december 2015.
The project is finished.
Purpose of the project
The purpose with the project is to push the limits of when it is technically and economically attractive to convert buildings' forms of heating from oil and gas exploration to heat pumps or other VE-based forms of heating.
Content
The demonstration project consists of the following four projects:
- Demo project 1: Implentation of gas hybrid heat pumps
The goal of this demonstration project is to demonstrate different gas hybrid heat pumps and gas heat pumps solutions and achieve Danish experience with this. The goal is to get proper operation and installation technical experiences together with clarifying the economy in these solutions. In addition to this, the goal is to clarify how gas heat pumps can contribute with the gradual phase out of fossil fuels and how gas heat pumps can be used for pressure relief of the supply mains and thereby be incorporated in a Smart Grid connection as Smart Gas Heat Pumps.

- Demo project 2: Low-temperature district heating and heat pumps
The goal of this demonstration project is to demonstrate a further developed low-temperature district heating unit with a heat pump, so the technology subsequent can be commercialized. The goal is to show the suitability and advantages of the low-temperature concept in close relation with other VE-based technologies (heat pumps, solar energy, waste heat, etc.). The focus is on the concept's technical and economical feasibility and development.
Project manager: SWECO
- Demo project 3: Smart buildings with the use of Smart integration of VE-technology
The goal with the demonstration project is to test a Home Energy Managements control unit in practice and thereby unveil whether it is possible to increase the amount of renewable energy by controlling the heat production after weather forecasts. Moreover, buildings' possibilities to function as energy storage are monitored.
Project manager: Danish Technological Institute
- Demo project 4: Concepts for overcoming barriers of buying and installing VE-systems
The goal with this demonstration project is to develop and demonstrate tools for electricians and counsellors, who can standardize and upgrade the quality of the analysis and design phases together with financing and assurance solutations, which makes it easier and safer for the customers to invest in the replacement of heating systems to VE-systems.
Project manager: Danish Technological Institute
Participants
The project is carried through as a collaboration between SWECO and Danish Technological Institute (overall project manager).
