Danish Technological Institute offers type testing and quality assurance of biomass boilers. We also provide consultancy for our customers regarding requirements and standards. If you have larger biomass boilers between 100 kW and 1 MW, we can bring our mobile test stand to your site and carry out a field measurement. If you have even larger boilers that you wish to have tested, please contact us to discuss a solution.
Type testing offered by the Energy Laboratory
Biomass boilers according to DS/EN 303-5
- Field measurement of biomass boilers between 100 kW and 500 kW according to DS/EN 303-5
- Performance measurement of biomass boilers from 500 kW to 1 MW according to the Danish Environmental Protection Agency method sheets MEL-02, MEL-06 and MEL-07
- Testing of hybrid systems with heat pumps in combination with biomass boilers according to DS/EN 14825:2008
Danish Technological Institute’s Energy Laboratory is accredited by DANAK to perform type testing of biomass boilers. See www.danak.dk, reg. no. 300 for detailed specifications of the accreditation.
Approved plants
When we have tested a boiler and found that it complies with the relevant requirements, we include the boiler on the list of approved biofuel boilers. The list is aimed at retailers and consumers who want an overview.

Market surveillance readiness test
Market surveillance is an integrated part of Ecodesign and may include verification of documentation and/or physical testing of whether the boiler complies with the Ecodesign requirements. We offer a review of documentation and testing of the boiler to assess whether it would pass a market surveillance check. Recommendations for any improvements are also included.
