EN 16510 Upgrade for UK Wood Stove Manufacturers
Convert your existing test reports to the new EN 16510 standard — without unnecessary retesting.
The EN 16510 standard series is replacing EN 13240 and EN 13229 for wood stoves, pellet stoves and inset appliances. UK manufacturers must hold valid EN 16510 documentations by 25 September 2027. Danish Technological Institute offers a structured upgrade process that validates your historical test data and converts it into an EN 16510 Assessment of Performance (AoP) report — reducing the need for costly retesting.
What we offer:
- Validation of existing test data against EN 16510 requirements
- Data Validation Reports (DVR) based on historical test results
- EN 16510 Assessment of Performance (AoP) reports
- Partial or full retesting where historical data is insufficient
- Guidance on new requirements including mechanical load, shared flue and room-sealed classifications
Proven experience — 200+ upgrades completed
Danish Technological Institute (Notified Body #1235) is one of Europe's leading testing laboratories for biomass heating appliances. Our Wood Stove Team has already completed more than 200 AoP report upgrades and has over 25 years of combined experience with solid fuel appliances.
Each appliance is assessed on a case-by-case basis. Where existing test data is valid and complete, it can be reused — avoiding full retesting. Through active participation in the EN 16510 standardization work, Danish Technological Institute has built testing practices designed to meet both current and future requirements, which has allowed the majority of appliances to be upgraded without retesting.

An AoP report documents an appliance's performance, emissions, efficiency and safety characteristics under EN 16510. It is the standard's equivalent of a type test report and is required for market access.
Partial or full retesting may be required. Danish Technological Institute carries out both partial and full type testing of solid fuel appliances.
