From product design to CE marking
Accelerate your startup's path to market with tailored consultancy, hands-on safety testing, and expert guidance on CE compliance from day one.
Getting your product ready for compliance with regulatory requirements and harmonised standards is a crucial part of your R&D activities.
The earlier these requirements are scoped and integrated into your development, the better – and the cheaper it is to make necessary adjustments.
Danish Technological Institute (DTI) offers specialised CE compliance knowhow targeted specifically at startups.
Our initiative combines flexible modules that can be taken either as focused courses or as customised consulting sessions tailored to your product.
1. CE marking, legislation and standards
Get a fundamental introduction to the rules in the EU zone and learn how to identify which pieces of legislation are relevant to your specific product. We also introduce you to the harmonised standards that support the legislation, helping you build a solid foundation for compliance.
2. Risk assessment
We provide a comprehensive summary of what risk assessment is, why it is so important for your development process, and show you practical, real-world examples of how to perform it in practice.
3. Inherently safe design
We discuss concrete design choices ranging over mechanical and electrical solutions that solve problems with typical physical hazards such as pinching, clamping, and collision.
4. Evaluation of safety sensor alternatives
Gain deep insights into different types of sensors for performing safety-relevant risk mitigation. To ensure you choose the right technology for your application, DTI can lend you sensors to try before you buy on a hands-on workshop basis.
5. Testing and measurement
Document compliance through precise testing and state-of-the-art measuring equipment.
We offer:
• Measurement of Cartesian position and orientation in timeseries.
• Force measurements according to ISO TS15066:2016 and ISO PAS 5672:2023.
• Measurement of braking time and braking distance.
• Black test specimens for testing the performance of safety scanners.
• Technical assistance with stability tests on inclined surfaces.
6. Requirements specification
Getting your requirements right is key to a successful product launch. We give you a thorough introduction to requirements engineering. This covers the requirements you have for your suppliers, your internal design requirements, as well as the requirements your customers must live up to.
7. Cyber security
Protect your machine or safety system against digital threats and corruption. We introduce the rules of the Cyber Resilience Act (CRA) and the Machinery Regulation, and connect the dots towards standards such as EN 50742 or IEC 62443.
