Induced sterility of plant material (breeding material protection)

It is important for plant breeder to be able to protect their cultivars. To exclude competitive companies uses these cultivars it possible to modify the ploidy levels to create plants with uneven number of chromosomes set. 

E.g. Triploid plants have three sets of chromosomes and are not fertile. This means that no other company can cross your cultivars with others.

At Danish Technological Institute we can treat your cultivars with chemicals which induce sterile plants.
