Problematic substances and phasing out

Products and materials must be free of problematic substances as much as possible. But which substances are problematic and how to avoid them?

Problematic substances can be many different substances depending on the material/product, usage, etc. A substance may be considered problematic or undesirable, because it is, for example, included on the candidate list of substances of very high concern (SVHC) under REACH Regulation, or because you want a water-based solution instead of a solvent-based solution for a better work environment or a more environmentally friendly process, or because you want to ensure that your product can be recycled.

Danish Technological Institute can help you with the following:

  • Identify problematic and potentially problematic substances.
  • Provide guidance on the best practice for phasing out a substance without affecting the properties of your product.
  • Perform follow-up tests to ensure that your product has the same or even a better quality after the substitution.

We will complement your product expertise with our extensive experience with problematic substances within many different product types, and we will help you achieve safer and greener products much faster.
