Record-breaking event in Denmark offers a glimpse into the future
3.383 curious visitors challenged, tested, and discussed the robots of the future when the Danish Robot and Automation Expo 2025 (ROBOTBRAG) and DIRA Business 2025 unveiled the next chapter in Danish technology.
The scent of local Danish pastry mingled with the sound of buzzing robots and eager conversations as the Danish Technological Institute (DTI) together with the Danish Industrial Robot Association (DIRA) opened the doors to this year's robot celebration.
Never has the Danish Robot & Automation Expo attracted so many visitors – 3,383 participants streamed through the halls and tents, where future technology was not just exhibited but came alive in the hands of curious visitors.
With a record number of exhibitors and humanoid robots at the center, the Danish Robot & Automation Expo 2025 wasn't just another event – it became a window into a future that is already well underway.
− The overwhelming attendance shows that Danish companies have truly understood the potential of robot and AI technology. They no longer come just to look, but to find concrete solutions to their challenges, says Henrik Jacobsen, Director at DTI.
− The Danish Robot & Automation Expo 2025 was simply electric. Companies came with real challenges and left with concrete ideas on how robot technology can strengthen their business. This is precisely why we hold this event – to bridge the gap between technology and practical application, he adds.
Record atmosphere and robot readiness
The nature of the event was felt in every robot-filled corner. Conversations flowed enthusiastically between robot arms, floating balloons, and advanced cameras.
At the same time, the message from both DIRA and DTI was clear: Robot and AI technology is no longer a luxury but a necessity for Danish companies' survival and growth.
Nevertheless, only one in ten companies has a real strategy. The Danish Robot & Automation Expo aims to change that – and the impact was noticeable.
Talents, technologies, and close dialogues
The second day of the Danish Robot & Automation Expo 2025 is called the Learning Day. It also became a celebration for future talents. Six 8th-grade classes competed in robot challenges during Technology Day, while students and teachers from across the country were inspired by everything from robot bakeries to advanced automation.
− It's fantastic to see how young people embrace technology with curiosity and determination. The Learning Day and Technology Day are about opening eyes to the fact that vocational education or technical studies are tickets to the most exciting jobs – and to shaping the future of Denmark. We need all talents, and this is where companies and young people can really meet, says Michael Nielsen, Board Leader at DIRA.
Technology Day 2025 was held as part of the learning day at DIRA Business, and the Danish Robot & Automation Expo 2025 was organised with apprentice academies from the LEGO Group, Danfoss, Novo Nordisk, Grundfoss, as well as ErhvervsTanken, T.E.G. Solution, and the Knowledge Center for Automation and Technology.
From sci-fi to reality
One of the main attractions was a genuine humanoid robot, Unitree G1, which made its first appearance on Danish soil for the robot celebration.
The robot greeted, balanced, and sent students, companies, and specialists into deep thought: Is this the colleague of the future?
DTI also published the report "Humanoid Robots: When Robots Resemble Humans."
− We are on the threshold of the next major technological leap, explains Henrik Jacobsen.
− Humanoid robots can revolutionise industries with labor shortages, but we need to be proactive. It's not just about buying the technology – but about creating the right framework for collaboration between humans and these new robot colleagues.
With an eye toward both sky and everyday life
But the Danish Robot & Automation Expo wasn't just about humanoid robots: There were high-flying robots and fast robots. Quality assurance cameras, advanced AI, and emerging startups. Robots for everything from routine tasks to space exploration. Microalgae that have been to space, a stratospheric balloon ready for the Arctic, and an engaging presentation from China expert Christina Boutrup, which accelerated the realisation: Development is moving fast – and Denmark needs to keep up!
− We shouldn't fear development, but we should be prepared, points out Henrik Jacobsen.
− The companies that are building their robot readiness now will stand strongest in the future – regardless of what challenges may come. That was precisely the message we wanted to convey with the Danish Robot & Automation Expo 2025.
