Recycled Plastics - Two ways to recycle
Select Page
The demand for more sustainable plastics and packaging is increasing, especially from the food industry, while regulations and consumers are calling for better recycling and more sustainable solutions.
Plastic companies must adapt their production and make new investments to keep up, and there is also a need to develop reliable technologies to meet demand.
Two ways to recycle plastic
In our work with clients, we generally encounter two approaches to using recycled plastics in company products. The first involves companies wishing to make their products more sustainable, for example by replacing their current plastic packaging with recyclable plastic. Here, we review the client’s product and packaging portfolio and, based on this, provide the client with a range of recommendations and specific suggestions for making their packaging assortment more sustainable.
For those clients who want to use more advanced methods to recycle their plastic products, we work with several chemical technologies to recycle plastic into new, high-value plastic, for example by recycling plastics from used medical equipment and by breaking down plastic layers in multilayer packaging, leaving a residue that can be recycled.

Project: High-value plastics – recycling and sustainable substitution
Through a two-year activity plan, we will equip Danish plastic companies to meet future market requirements and regulations regarding plastics. The activity plan aims to 1) develop technologies and strategies for recycling plastics with cleaner quality and higher value, and 2) develop sustainable alternatives in bio- and fiber-based materials.
