Calibration of flow meters
If you are a measurement technician or process manager, you are aware that calibration of flow meters is important as it enables you to check your meters and optimize them. In this way, the uncertainty between the reading and the true measurement is minimized. At the same time, the basis for correct settlement of water and energy consumption is secured.
Five good reasons to collaborate with Danish Techonological Institute on calibration:
Calibration reduces the uncertainty:
Calibration of flow meters gives you knowledge of your measuring instruments' measuring capabilities and thereby enable reducing the uncertainty from your measurement data in your system. Regular calibration of your flow meter gives you knowledge of the flow meter's stability and shows whether the meter drifts over time.
Accurate measurement of water and energy flow in piping systems is important for billing purposes, in district heating supply systems and in many different industrial processes.
The Flow Laboratory at Danish Technological Institute offers testing and calibration of flow and energy meters as well as fluid related technical measurements for valves, regulators and pumps:
We are able to calibrate dimensions up to 400 mm with a flow capacity up to 1000 m3/h and at water temperatures ranging from 4 °C to 85 °C.
For many years we have offered consultancy services concerning correct flow and energy measurements to producers of measuring equipment, district heating plants and calibration laboratories.
The Flow Laboratory is appointed Danish Metrology Institute for Water Flow (volume, mass and energy flow). And as a national metrology laboratory we participate in intercomparison with other European NMI’s at the highest international level.
The laboratory is accredited by The Danish Accreditation Service (DANAK) – see www.DANAK.dk, Reg. 200 for detailed specifications of the calibration services and uncertainties.
We are accredited in flow calibration and test from to 1 mL/h to 6 l/h - but we also do calibration and tests in the micro flow range 1 µl/h – 6 l/h (accreditation is expected in 2025). You can read about the Microflow Laboratory here.
