Vaccine Coolers and Vaccine Transportation Boxes

For vaccine coolers and vaccine transportation boxes, it is crucial that they keep the temperature at the right level in all conceivable situations. If a vaccine experiences temperatures outside the required range, the vaccine gets useless – with serious human and economic consequences as a result. Through testing and development, we can assist you in making your appliance ready for this demanding market.

While both serve the crucial purpose of temperature control, they differ significantly in their functionality:

Vaccine Coolers

Vaccine coolers cover all types of stationary refrigerators and freezers used for storing vaccines. We are able to test both solar powered and mains connected appliances designed for multiple purposes.

Vaccine coolers are portable insulated containers designed to maintain a temperature range of 2°C to 8°C, crucial for preserving vaccine potency. They feature:

  • High-quality insulation to minimize temperature fluctuations
  • Lightweight design with handles or straps for easy transport
  • Use of ice packs or gel packs for temperature control
  • Suitability for short-term storage and transport
  • Essential for health workers and outreach vaccination campaigns

These coolers play a vital role in maintaining the cold chain, ensuring vaccines remain effective from production to administration.

Vaccine Transportation Boxes

Vaccine transportation boxes cover all types of insulated containers, cold-boxes, and vaccine carriers intended for storing vaccines during field trips or electrical power failure. The transportation boxes include all types of water-packs, ice packs, cool-packs, and warm-packs.

A vaccine transportation box is a larger, more robust container used for secure and temperature-controlled transport of vaccines over longer distances. Key features include:

  • Larger capacity than vaccine coolers, accommodating more vaccines or multiple coolers
  • Designed to withstand rigors of transport by road, air, or sea
  • Often equipped with temperature monitoring devices like data loggers
  • Provide real-time tracking of internal temperature
  • Ensure compliance with storage guidelines
  • Meet stringent regulatory standards for vaccine transport

These boxes ensure that vaccines arrive at their destination without loss of efficacy, making them crucial for long-distance vaccine distribution.

Our testing ensures compliance with EU energy labelling, Ecodesign requirements, and relevant test standards.

Compliance with WHO Requirements

Our laboratory is accredited by the WHO to conduct tests of your vaccine storage units and transportation boxes with the purpose of ensuring that your product meets WHO requirements. We conduct tests according to the following WHO PQS methods:

  • E03: Refrigerators and freezers for vaccine storage and freezing water-packs
  • E004: Insulated containers, cold boxes, and vaccine carriers.
  • E005: Water-packs, ice packs, cool-packs, and warm-packs.
  • E006: Temperature monitoring devices.
