GridLab
Independent testing, validation and documentation of electrical components and control systems
Are you developing battery systems, electric vehicles, inverters or intelligent control systems such as Energy Management Systems (EMS)? If so, you know that the green transition and increasing electrification place high demands on reliability, grid integration and performance.
At the Danish Technological Institute, we help companies test, optimise and document electrical components and systems in our advanced GridLab. Here, we can recreate realistic electrical and climatic conditions, enabling you to document how your solution performs in real-world conditions.
As a GTS institute, we are an independent partner. We help you turn technical challenges into measurable results and documentation that can be used directly in product development, validation and approval processes.
Typical challenges we help solve
Companies often contact us when they need to clarify or document issues such as:
How do you document that your inverter complies with current technical requirements, such as TF 3.3.1?
Are you experiencing unexplained power quality disturbances, and do you need to measure and document them on site?
How do you test your equipment in complex, customised grid scenarios before it is commissioned?
Does your electric vehicle or power electronics perform optimally across varying temperatures and humidity levels?
Does your Energy Management System (EMS) respond quickly and correctly in interaction with the physical electrical components?
What can you test in GridLab?
We always tailor the test programme to your specific needs. GridLab offers, among other services:
Verification and testing of inverters and battery systems against applicable grid connection requirements.
Testing of your equipment in controlled, simulated grid and load scenarios using a grid simulator and DC load.
Testing the response and interaction of overall control systems and physical electrical components under dynamic conditions.
Measurement, analysis and troubleshooting of power quality directly at your site or at your customers’ premises using mobile measurement equipment.
Testing functionality, charging and performance under controlled temperature and humidity conditions in our climate chamber.
Advanced test equipment and realistic test environments
GridLab features advanced test equipment that enables us to recreate the electrical and environmental conditions your product will encounter in real-world operation. Our facilities include:
- 2 × 72 kW grid simulator
- DC load
- EV charger with capacity of up to 350 kW
- Large climate chamber
This enables you to test components and systems under controlled conditions before commissioning or moving forward in the approval process.
Components we typically test
At GridLab, we can handle and test a wide range of electrical components and systems, including:
- Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS)
- Inverters
- Power electronics
- Electric vehicles and Vehicle-to-X solutions
- Control systems / EMS
- Grid-forming and grid-following solutions
Let us test your solution
Whether you need to pre-qualify a battery installation, test an electric vehicle in a climate chamber or identify the cause of power quality issues in the field, our experts are ready to help.
