Projects - Technology for agriculture

Denmark In Danish

Please read selected and ongoing Research & Development projects with participation of Danish Technological Institute within the technology for agriculture area.

Ongoing projectsForsøgsmark med kikærterCan we dress the chickpea for the Nordic autumn weather?

Can we make chickpeas an established part of the Nordic landscape? This is what we are currently investigating in the CicerNord project. Many of the legumes we eat today have traveled far, and we want to change that.

SPORE projektet tester teknologi for tidlig opdagelse af skimmel i kaffe, korn og nødder.Advanced sensors to detect mould in food before it breaks out

Through our participation in SPORE, we aim to strengthen food safety and reduce food waste in large storage systems in Denmark and internationally by developing a new method for the rapid and accurate detection of early mould growth.

AgNue-forside-projekthjemmesideInternational research platform for the improved use of nitrogen in agriculture

AgNUE is establishing the first international network dedicated to measuring and understanding how nitrogen moves through agricultural fields. The initiative spans Europe and the United States, bringing together leading research institutions to collect high-quality, comparable data across different soil types, climates, and cropping systems.

Én indgang til data skal accelerere landbrugets grønne omstillingEntry point to data to accelerate agriculture’s green transition

Fragmented data is a challenge for agriculture’s green transition. Through the GATE project, the Danish Technological Institute and the project’s partners will bring data together in a single open platform, giving stakeholders across the agricultural sector a stronger foundation for developing data-driven tools.

Brainstorm1A robust evidence base for the safe and sustainable use of biochar in agriculture

TRACES is building a robust knowledge base for the risk assessment of biochar's effects on the environment.

VIBES-forside-projekterAI solutions to measure biodiversity in rewilding and regenerative agriculture

VIBES will assess whether automated monitoring with sensors and artificial intelligence can be used to measure the effects of rewilding and regenerative agriculture in Danish landscapes.

BS360-projekt-forsideDevelopment of peat-free growing media from local and circular biomass

BioSubstrate360 develops a scientifically documented and commercially scalable solution that will accelerate the green transition of horticultural production in Denmark.

Danskbælgboost-forside-projekterProject to boost Danes' appetite for pulses

The aim of the project is to make crops such as Danish lentils an inspiring and natural part of canteen and everyday meals, while reducing imports from abroad.

Landmænd kigger på markProject puts farmers’ own ideas for the future of agriculture into play

Farmer-Driven Innovation is a national project that places Danish farmers’ ideas and experiences at the heart of developing the sustainable agriculture of the future. The project brings together farmers from across the country in regional innovation networks, where they – in collaboration with advisers and experts – develop, test, and share new solutions for more environmentally friendly crop production.

AIDROPS-forside-projekterGroundbreaking model for precision spraying aims to reduce herbicide use

By combining high-resolution drone imagery, AI-driven weed detection, and precise spraying maps, AIDROPS will develop a model for precision spraying that can save both chemicals and costs in agriculture.

indikatorer-jordsundhed-projekt-forsideEnabling the measurement of soil health

As a novel approach, the 'Soil Health Indicators' project will include microbiological indicators to assess the condition of the soil.

ELIF-forside-projekterWe aim to reduce odour nuisance from wastewater treatment

Using new technology, ELIF will enable wastewater treatment plants to better manage odour complaints, conserve resources and enhance security of supply.

Fusionsafe-forside-projekterSecure sensor systems for agriculture

The FusionSafe technology enhances safety in complex and dynamic off-road work environments, where heavy machinery and people operate in close proximity. The technology will not only strengthen safety in agriculture but also play a decisive role as a key function in the field robots of the future.

Vejen mod en styrket værdikæde for plantebaserede fødevarer: Optimering af hestebønnens potentialeStrengthening the value chain for plant-based foods - optimising the potential of Faba Bean

FABAPUZZLE generates new knowledge and tools to make it easier to cultivate and breed faba beans that are more robust and of higher quality. The results are shared openly, so that farmers, food producers, and other interested parties can make use of them. The goal is to strengthen the production of sustainable, plant-based foods in Denmark and Europe.

GreenLandbrug-projekt-forsideGreenlandic glacial rock flour as a natural supplement in Danish agriculture

Glacial rock flour from Greenland can contribute to soil health, crop yield, reduce nitrogen leaching, and sequester CO2. In GreenLandbrug we are testing the properties and applicability of glacial rock flour through experiments conducted both in the laboratory and in the field.

NON2O-projekt-forside New biotechnology to reduce nitrous oxide emissions and nitrogen losses from agriculture

NoN2O will employ microorganisms with special properties, which will be added to organic fertilizers and spread on fields. DNRA bacteria enhance nitrogen availability for crops while minimizing environmental losses, benefitting both the planet and farmers.

ONMET-forside-projekterTesting a new method for quantifying methane emissions from wastewater facilities

ON-MET is testing and developing a new measurement method for total quantification of methane emissions from wastewater facilities. Through the project, we gain an understanding of how operational conditions affect methane emissions, thereby increasing the potential to develop effective reduction strategies.

Vi udvikler og tester robotteknologi og augmented reality i markenDeveloping and testing robotic technology and augmented reality in the field

Conducted across Europe with 18 partners, the AgRibot project tests new technologies and evaluates them against existing standards. Safety is the key focus, ensuring correct procedures and the proper use of this new technology in agriculture.

agrifoodTEF-gruppefotoTesting and preparing reliable AI and robotic technologies for the market

Through the agrifoodTEF project, the Danish Technological Institute delivers testing and experimental facilities alongside knowledge and expertise, allowing AI and robotic technologies to be trialled, verified and prepared for the market. This paves the way for development, optimisation and green transition.
