The Danish Technological Institute offers assistance with electronics development from the initial idea stage through to the first prototype and the final phase, where the product is put into production.

Prototype Electronics and Electrical Products

The Danish Technological Institute provides support for electronics development—from the initial idea through to the first prototype and the final stage, where the product is prepared for production. We can assist with drafting requirements specifications, designing electronics, developing prototypes, and creating embedded software and user interfaces. Our starting point is the customers’ idea, as well as the requirements that apply to electronic products.


Collaboration with Cross-Disciplinary Expertise

One of the advantages of developing prototypes with us is that we can draw on specialist expertise in areas such as chemistry, materials, construction, biomass, combustion technology and more.


Requirements Specification

The first prerequisite for turning an idea into reality is a requirements specification. We can help draft this document so that a prototype can be produced and used to verify, for example, a measurement principle. The requirements specification can, of course, be adapted afterwards.


Electronics Development at Component Level

Based on the requirements and interfaces, we design the electronics and carry out the required simulations. We then develop a prototype to verify that the design and requirements specification perform as intended.

A prototype can be developed in several ways - for example, by soldering it onto a Veroboard, which is the simplest type of prototype. This allows us to test, for example, sources of uncertainty. We then design the PCB layout, after which the printed circuit board can be manufactured.


Software Development

The PCB will often contain a microcontroller that requires embedded software. We can develop embedded software based on the customer’s requirements.


Data Logging

Where information needs to be logged, we develop the electronics and software required to transmit the data onwards. For example, we have developed a data logger that uses GSM to send data to a central server.
