Development of plastic products - Functional testing and user trials
Select Page
The Danish Technological Institute has many years of experience conducting functional tests and user trials as part of customer projects.
Often, situations arise where materials and products must be tested for a given property or function for which no suitable standard or norm exists. In such cases, we typically attempt to adapt the functional test or user trial to an existing standard, but it may be necessary to establish alternative testing facilities. These can also be built according to specific customer specifications.
Often, there will be a need to conduct a risk assessment based on the functional test or user trial, and in such cases, it is important that the functional test or user trial resembles real-life use as closely as possible to obtain realistic results.
As a supplement to the functional test or user trial, classic tests such as tensile testing, bending testing, fatigue testing, thermal analysis, Dynamic Mechanical Analysis (DMA), hardness testing, and similar can be conducted. The tests are performed accredited and in accordance with international standards. A descriptive and understandable report is prepared with the test results.
Examples of products for functional testing and user trials:
Plastic components for the healthcare sector, composite structures, building components, insulation materials, household items and art, candlesticks, electrical articles, sports equipment, products in general made of plastic and rubber, etc.
The Danish Technological Institute can help with:
- Functional testing and user trials of products and components in plastic and rubber
- Preparation of risk assessments based on functional testing and user trials
- Advice regarding material use, failure analysis, structural design, joining, bonding, etc.
- Accredited testing of material properties (tensile testing, bending testing, Dynamic Mechanical Analysis, etc.)
- Investigation of lifespan by accelerated aging
