Development of plastic products - Process development and manufacturing
Select Page
During the development phase of new products or components in plastic, it is important to remain open to various processes, production methods, and material solutions to achieve the optimal result without limiting functionality or design.
The Danish Technological Institute has extensive knowledge of a wide range of manufacturing and production forms (including extrusion, injection molding, thermoforming, vacuum molding) as well as experience with suitable raw material types for each. We can therefore advise on process selection and optimization as well as troubleshooting in connection with the commissioning of new or optimizing existing products and production lines. Development and optimization of products can, for example, be carried out by demonstration and pilot production at customers or on our own facilities, or by simulating the manufacturing process with respect to tool design, process parameters, and flow properties of raw materials. After selecting the optimal production process, raw material and supplier selection (or adaptation) follows, which the Danish Technological Institute also has extensive knowledge of. The optimal solution may, for example, require a bi-component/composite solution or joining of two very different materials/items.
When introducing new materials or processes, the Danish Technological Institute can also assist with requirement specifications in accordance with RoHS and REACH directives, as well as challenges with safety and working environment in given productions (including handling of static electricity).
At the Danish Technological Institute, our specialists in plastics and packaging handles assignments worldwide and gladly visits outsourced productions if that is where the problems are to be solved.
The Danish Technological Institute can help you with:
- Sparring in the early development phase as well as process optimization and automation
- Advice on process and material selection (including rubber and elastomers)
- Optimization and troubleshooting of existing items
- Advice when introducing or encountering problems with tools and process lines
- Pilot production and zero-series manufacturing
- Advice on joining methods (adhesives, welding, fixing, etc.)
