Projects within metallurgy and mechanical testing

At the Danish Technological Institute, we continuously work on projects based in industry or from a development perspective. A number of the projects involve the materials we use in our daily lives – how we can become better at utilizing them.

The projects are carried out in close collaboration with companies and research partners and provide insight into the opportunities that open up when we collaborate across disciplines.

Through the projects, we create examples of how new material solutions, optimized processes, and better documentation create value in industry – from root cause failure analyses and lifetime extension to the development of new products and production methods.

Below you can see an overview of selected industrial projects, performance contracts, as well as research and development projects with the participation of specialists from the Danish Technological Institute within analysis and testing of metallic materials.

Selected industrial projects:

  • Dynamic Slip Behavior of EN 1090-2 Bolted joints: Sensitivity to Load Amplitude and Frequency
  • Corrosion-Mechanical Interaction in Coated Steel under Cyclic Loading
  • Mapping and Monitoring Local Corrosion Conditions for Improved Steel Durability
  • Towards Practical Reuse of Structural Steel

Performance contracts (2025–2028):

  • Technology development, implementation, and testing of Power-to-X
  • Industrial 3D printing and the manufacturing of the future
  • Center for domain-driven AI as a lever for Danish business
  • Circular materials
  • Advanced characterization of products and processes

Research and development projects:

  • PVD4PtX – PVD coatings for PtX: Development and validation of PVD coatings for components exposed to green fuels
  • ACTNXT – Advanced characterization for PtX: Development of new instrumentation and methods for use at major research infrastructures, including enabling in operando measurements and studies of materials under hydrogen exposure.
  • DeepWind – Acceleration of FOW by reducing costs and material consumption through fully automated welding, advanced post-treatment of welds, and validation of extended fatigue life.
