Quality assurance of plastic products - Surface treatments
Select Page
The cleanability and breathability of a painted surface are examples of quality parameters that can be documented with standardized laboratory tests.
If the documentation is to be used as part of a CE marking process, we recommend basing it on the industry’s standard test methods. If your paints or coatings are intended for a special application, we can also offer testing that mimics the exact conditions there.
Our range of exposure equipment enables us to accelerate degradation processes and provide a qualified estimate of the service life of the surface treatment. For example, the abrasion test ASTM D 4060 works on a principle where an abrasion wheel slowly removes the paint, allowing its relative abrasion resistance to be compared with other types of treatments.
What can the Danish Technological Institute help you with?
- Uniform cosmetic appearance (e.g., gloss and color changes, such as calculation of yellowness index)
- Wet abrasion resistance and coverage for wall paints (EN13300). Determination of solids content, density, and identification.
- Traditional paint analyses such as layer thickness, gloss, color, solids content, coverage, abrasion resistance, etc.
- Adhesion in connection with corrosion testing
- Color and gloss values after exposure to UV light
