Accredited testing of furniture surfaces
In Danish
Document the durability of your furniture and kitchen surfaces with DANAK-accredited testing
Testing of furniture surfaces is an accredited laboratory test that verifies how resistant a surface is to the stresses and strains of daily use - such as liquids, heat, impact, scratches, and moisture. The test documents whether the surface of a dining table, a kitchen countertop, or a furniture component retains its appearance and functionality over time.
Danish Technological Institute is DANAK-accredited to test furniture surfaces in accordance with relevant sections of DS/INF 132:2002 and the latest edition of the Swedish Möbelfakta standard. This ensures that your test results are independently documented and recognized.
How can Danish Technological Institute assist you?
- Surface durability: accredited testing of resistance to liquids, dry and moist heat, impact, scratches, and "water on edge" according to DS/INF 132:2002
- Fading tests: documentation of color fading rates during indoor and outdoor use

Why test furniture surfaces?
Furniture and kitchen units are expected to withstand use for many years. A countertop stained by a coffee mug or a surface finish scratched through normal use leads to customer complaints and damages your reputation. Accredited testing provides concrete data on surface durability - before the product reaches the customer.
The test results can be used for:
- Product development and material selection
- Documentation for customers, procurement officers, and contractual requirements
- Quality control when switching lacquer suppliers or surface treatment processes
- Comparison of surface finishes or product variants
DANAK-accredited for testing according to DS/INF 132:2002 and Möbelfakta
DS/INF 132:2002 is the Danish standard for testing furniture surface resistance and is based on Möbelfakta's section on Surface Resistance. The standard covers tests against liquids, dry and moist heat, impact, scratches, and "water on edge." Danish Technological Institute is DANAK-accredited to test according to relevant sections of the standard, ensuring that results are independent and internationally recognized.
