Artificial ageing is an accelerated laboratory test that simulates the degradation a plastic material or product undergoes over time - such as from UV light, temperature fluctuations, moisture, salt spray, and mechanical loads. The test provides you with documentation of durability without the need to wait for years of natural weathering.

Danish Technological Institute’s accredited laboratory designs exposure programs that strike the right balance between minimal test scope and representative conditions - ensuring you obtain reliable results with minimal time and resource consumption.

How can Danish Technological Institute assist you?

  • Salt spray testing: corrosion testing according to ASTM B 117 or EN ISO 9227
  • Climatic chamber testing: exposure to high/low temperatures and humidity (e.g., IEC 60068-2-30)
  • Heat and moisture resistance: testing surface resistance against combined influences (e.g., ISO 6270-2)
  • UV ageing with Weather-Ometer: fading and degradation according to ISO 4892-2
  • UV ageing with QUV apparatus: light-induced embrittlement according to ISO 4892-3 or ASTM G154
  • Quantification of degradation: measuring changes in mechanical properties before and after exposure
