Testing of wet rooms membranes

EAD 030352-00-0503 is a European Assessment Document (EAD) made by the European Organization for Technical Assessment (EOTA) to evaluate liquid membranes for waterproof kits for wet room floors and/or walls. It includes assessment of single-component and multi-component liquid waterproof membranes that can be used with or without a wearing surface. These membrane kits may also include components such as adhesives, primers, reinforcement nets and sealing strips.

The membrane kit is designed for indoor wet rooms, e.g. bathrooms, where it can be placed under tiles.

Specific test methods are described to evaluate performance, including crack bridging and adhesion ability. The general expected lifespan of waterproof kits is 25 years, while paint kits have an expected lifespan of 10 years. Annexes A-G describe specific test methods for assessing water tightness around penetrations, resistance to mechanical impact, and other relevant tests for product performance under simulated use.

The European Assessment Document (EAD) serves as a guide for manufacturers to obtain a European Technical Assessment (ETA) based on the described criteria and methods. These assessments allow manufacturers to demonstrate how their products meet the harmonized requirements of the European market, especially when there is no harmonised standard for a specific product. EOTA works closely with national technical assessment bodies to ensure consistency and quality in assessments across Europe.
